HIDden Theatre is looking to grow as a company! We’re looking especially for trustees for our board of directors and company management, but we also have open space for creative involvement in other roles. If you have an interest in theatre or history, this might be a great opportunity for you to be involved in how our company moves forward!
Some of the qualities that you might have that would really help the company to grow from the momentum of this summer’s productions (this is a wishlist, we have no expectations that one person would tick all boxes!):
* you’re enthusiastic about theatre, whether it’s professional, amateur, or a mixture of the two
* you have some familiarity with financial management
* you are comfortable with fundraising and advertising
* you love creating and interacting with social media
* you’re interested in helping a small organisation grow and thrive
* you enjoy working collaboratively with others to achieve these goals
* you love working on the production end of theatre- whether on a creative team or with technical skills
We know that freelancers and volunteers have many demands on their time, and we try to keep your involvement as light as possible.
Who we are & what we do:
Our mission statement: “HIDden Theatre aims to enrich the lives of audience members and creative participants through stories from and about the past”.
We are a small not-for-profit group based in York, England that produces theatre from and about the past. After a dormancy period we have relaunched ourselves in 2026 with a reading of two French farces, and a production for the York Mystery Plays. Prior to this we have had performances in York, Bristol, and London, including co-productions. Our actors and company have been a mixture of professionals, amateurs, and university-level students. While our productions to this point have been based in the medieval era, we hope to move on to showcase other theatrical traditions as well. We’re open to different methods of performance and styles of drama, as long as they illuminate stories from history. This is a unique niche that gives us a great scope for future endeavours!

HIDden Theatre is run by a small team of volunteers, so we are very open to having new people join us with different ideas and experience. In between performance projects, we would always appreciate help with the day-to-day running of the company (including admin, finance & social media) and there is even room for more trustees to join the company’s board of directors.
